MARTINSBURG, WV — Shepherd University Martinsburg Center has announced that the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce is a Strategic Alliance Partner. The memorandum of understanding was ratified by Brien J. Poffenberger, president of the Chamber of Commerce, on Monday, September 30.

Through the Strategic Alliance Partnership program, employees of businesses that are Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber members can apply for admission and, with proof of employment, qualify for a discount off the cost of tuition when taking classes at Shepherd University Martinsburg Center. The chamber joins 14 regional businesses and organizations that have become Strategic Alliance Partners through an agreement with Shepherd’s Martinsburg Center.

“The agreement with the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce is significant in that employees of Citi, First Data, City of Hagerstown, and a variety of other banks, retail, and service organizations will now qualify for a reduction in tuition as a new student at Shepherd University Martinsburg Center,” said Jim Klein, director of the Martinsburg Center.

To view a list of chamber members, potential students may visit the chamber website at www.hagerstown.org.

Prospective students are invited to an open house at the Martinsburg Center, 261 Aikens Center, Martinsburg, on Thursday, October 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. Additionally, the Martinsburg Center is waiving the application fee through October 17.
