Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Friends of Music will present baritone William Andrew Stuckey on Thursday, March 24 at 8 p.m. in the Frank Center Theater. Stuckey's performances have been heralded for their visceral power and beauty.
Stuckey has most recently performed with the Santa Fe Opera as Germont in their production of La Traviata and also participated in the critically-acclaimed American premiere of Kaaja Saariajo's L'amour de loin. He has performed leading roles with the Washington, Augusta, Toledo, and Roanoke operas. He performed in La Boheme, Madame Butterfly, Amistad, La Gioconda, and La Traviata while with the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Stuckey has been awarded the Sara Tucker study grant, the William Mattheus Sullivan Foundation grant, and the Union League grant. He won first prize in both the Florida Grand Opera's Young Patronesses of the Opera competition and the Palm Beach Opera competition. He also was a national semi-finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.
