Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Foundation and the recently established Ram Gridiron Club hosted a special after-scrimmage picnic at Ram Stadium on Saturday, April 16. Current players joined former players, new recruits and their families, as well as Gridiron Club members for the catered picnic held to celebrate alumni and community support for the football program.

"I thought the spring game picnic was a resounding success," said coach Monte Cater. "We had a great day, great crowd, great food, and a lot of fun. I hope we can make it an annual event."

More than 200 enthusiastic Ram football fans turned out to support the team. "An event like this symbolizes the pride and support that so many feel for what Shepherd has accomplished in intercollegiate football," said Al Lueck, Ram Gridiron Club chair.

The 175-member Ram Gridiron Club, sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation, was chartered in July 2004 to support the Shepherd University football program. Memberships in the organizations are available on an annual basis. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Ram Gridiron Club is encouraged to call the Shepherd University Foundation Office at 304/876-5391 or 800/344-5231 ext. 5391.
