Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Foundation has
created a scholarship to provide financial support to sociology students.
Kevin Howley, Alexandria, Virginia, established the scholarship to mark
the 10-year anniversary of his graduation from Shepherd, in recognition of
the assistance he received from his family and to encourage others to pursue
a Shepherd degree. The Njouve Scholarship is named after the Bantu word for
elephant. He said that during his eight years in Africa he frequently
encountered the word, as well as the animal.
After graduating from Shepherd with a B.S. in sociology, Howley joined
the Peace Corps and went to work for the UN World Food Program in Tanzania,
where he is currently employed.
For more information about the scholarship, or about creating a
scholarship fund, contact the Foundation at 304/876-5391, or P.O. Box 3210,
Shepherdstown, West Virginia 25443.
