Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University's Nexus of Science and Spirit will be hosting two events in April.

Dr. Farzad Mahootian will present Self Limitation in Science and Religion on Tuesday, April 12 at 8 p.m. Which will examine research on the relevance of metaphor and myth to the growth of science and religion. Through an examination of Plato's ideas of science, Newton's alchemical studies, and the Bohr-Einstein debate, he will discuss a key feature shared by scientific and religious thinking at their best.

Dr. Howard Tiech will present Mythic Thinking and the Business Mind on Friday, April 15 at 8 p.m. He will discuss the efficacy of mythological images in the contemporary world and how they apply in a variety of settings spanning the spectrum from personal to global.

Both events will be in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies and are free and open to the public. The Nexus of Science and Spirit events will combine lectures and performance to present a blend of experience with the aim of exploring the intersection of science and religion through a grant from the Metanexus Institute's Local Societies Initiative for the Constructive Engagement of Religion and Science. For more information about the Nexus, contact Mahootian at fmahooti@shepherd.edu.
