(Shepherd to host Nexus of Science and Spirit events over next three years)

Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University will be hosting a new series of presentations and events over the next three years made possible by a grant from the Metanexus Institute. Nexus of Science and Spirit will be an ongoing series of public events and lectures by national speakers, civil servants, and other public figures.

Shepherd's Nexus, one of about 200 local societies funded worldwide, will pursue its ultimate aim of exploring the intersection of science, religion, philosophy, music, art, and technology in the past and present. Nexus events will combine lectures and performance to present a balanced blend of talk, experience, thought, and feeling.

Funded by the John Templeton Foundation, the Metanexus Institute's Local Societies Initiative for the Constructive Engagement of Religion and Science provides grants that fund dialogue groups to explore the dynamic interface between religion and science globally. Shepherd is matching the funding it receives from the grant.

The program is under the direction of Dr. Farzad Mahootian. For more information, contact fmahooti@shepherd.edu.
