(Multicultural Student Affairs to hold Irie Time men's soccer fund-raiser)
Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Office of Multicultural Student Affairs will hold Irie Time on Thursday, April 28 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. in the Storer Ballroom, Student Center.
Irie Time is an island-style fund-raiser to benefit the men's soccer team. Food from Jamaica, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Korea, Latvia, and El Salvador will be available for purchase. The benefit will also feature "Get Busy," a ladies dance contest, and the "Nation's Cup" dance-off between the soccer team members.
Sponsorships are available in bronze irie for contributions up to $100; silver irie for contributions from $200-$300; gold irie for contributions from $400-$500; and platinum irie for contributions over $500. Checks can be made payable to the Shepherd University Foundation earmarked for the Robert Jones Memorial Fund.
The scholarship was established in 2003 by the head coach of the men's soccer team to honor the memory of Robert Jones, who died in 2002 just before beginning his freshman year at Shepherd and participating in the men's soccer program.
Irie Time is open to the public; general admission is $7 and $5 with a Rambler Card. For more information call Carolyn Malachi at 304/876-4447 or e-mail irietime05@yahoo.com. Irie Time is sponsored in part by the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the International Student Union.
