Dunlop, president of Shepherd University. Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Foundation has received a $2,500 donation from Frontier, a Citizens Communications national telephone company that serves West Virginia's eastern panhandle. The donation supports a special company scholarship that is available to students who are studying business and technology. In presenting a check to Dr. David Dunlop, president of Shepherd University, Chuck Ellison, Frontier area manager, said that his company has long been committed to supporting the communities it serves, especially in education. "It benefits us as an employer to have a well-educated labor market, particularly in the area of computerized technology," he said. "We also want to instill in high school and college students the need for specialized and continuous learning as jobs in the communications field become more and more complex." Frontier has been a generous annual contributor to the Foundation, said Monica Lingenfelter, vice president of the Shepherd University Foundation. In previous years Frontier has provided support for the Scarborough library, women's athletics, and technology and business scholarships. For more information about the scholarship or about creating a scholarship fund, contact the Foundation at 304/876-5391. -30-HORST |
