Linda Dunn to join Shepherd advancement staff

Shepherdstown, WV--Dr. Linda S. Dunn, former president of Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Moorefield, will join the Shepherd University staff July 1. She will work in Shepherd's Office of Advancement as director of advancement research and also will assist with the development of a master of arts degree in college student development.

A Shepherd alumna, Dunn earned a bachelor of arts in 1968. She earned a master of science degree from West Virginia University and a doctorate in education from Virginia Tech.

"I am pleased that Dr. Dunn is returning to her alma mater," said Shepherd President David L. Dunlop. "Her long association with and knowledge of Shepherd will be assets to the university. Her higher education credentials and experience are impeccable, and she will have an immediate and positive impact on the institution."

Dunn served as the first president of Eastern Community and Technical College (2000-2005) and as the president of West Virginia Northern Community College in Wheeling (1994 to 2000). She was the assistant director of teacher education for the District of Columbia Public Schools for two years.

She worked at Shepherd for 12 years beginning in 1976. Dunn served in a variety of roles including director of continuing and off-campus education, assistant academic dean, acting academic dean, and executive assistant to the president for enrollment management and administrative services, supervising the offices of the registrar, admissions, computer center, institutional research, academic foundations program, evening services, and the off-campus center.

Earlier in her career, Dunn taught mathematics at Charles Town High School, West Liberty State College, and West Virginia Northern, where she later served as director of the division of special programs and assistant to the president.
