(Shepherd's Wind Ensemble to present Carnegie Hall Program Apr. 29)
Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Wind Ensemble
will present its Carnegie Hall program to local audiences Friday, April 29
at 8 p.m. in the Frank Center. Dr. Mark McCoy and the Ensemble will
highlight what to listen for in a pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m.
The Wind Ensemble will perform Leonard Bernstein's overture to Candide,
Howard Hanson's Chorale and Alleluia, Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F for
Military Band, Henry Fillmore's patriotic march Americans We, and Frank
Ticheli's blues-inspired work Blue Shades.
The Ensemble won an invitation to perform in Carnegie Hall on Sunday,
April 24 at 8 p.m. after completing a rigorous taped audition process. The
Friends of Music, a nonprofit organization that supports the Shepherd Music
Department, have helped financially with a series of fund-raising events to
ensure the entire group could represent Shepherd in New York.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and free for students and MAC
cardholders. Admission to the lecture is free with a concert ticket. For
more information call the Shepherd University concertline at 304/876-5555.
