Shepherd to host reading by Anne Clinard Barnhill April 7

(Shepherd to host reading by Anne Clinard Barnhill April 7)

Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University's Appalachian Studies Program will sponsor a reading in period costume by author Anne Clinard Barnhill Monday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies. She will read from her latest book "Queen Elizabeth's Daughter."

Barnhill's other books are "Coal, Baby," "What You Long For," "At Home In the Land of Oz: Autism, My Sister, and Me," and "At the Mercy of the Queen."

Barnhill is one of the writers published in the "Anthology of Appalachian Writers, Frank X. Walker Volume 6" featured in the Appalachian Heritage Festival and writers events September 19 to 27. She has been writing professionally for almost 25 years, publishing articles and short stories in magazines and anthologies. Her visit is sponsored by the Appalachian Writers Project and the Shepherd University Appalachian Studies Program.

The 2014 Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence, Homer Hickam, author of "Rocket Boys" and the Coalwood trilogy, will be the featured writer at Shepherd during the fall's Writer-in-Residence events.
