Shepherd to host COPLAC's annual meeting June 20-22
ISSUED: 5 June 2013
Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University will host the annual meeting of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) June 20-22.
The meeting's theme, Creative and Performing Arts at Public Liberal Arts Colleges and Universities, will allow Shepherd to showcase the Contemporary American Theater Festival and the university's vibrant arts environment.
COPLAC, established in 1987, drives awareness of the value of high-quality, public liberal arts education in a student-centered, residential environment. Its 27 members represent 25 states and one Canadian province.
"We are honored to welcome our COPLAC colleagues to the Shepherd campus," said President Suzanne Shipley. "Our exemplary programs in art, graphic design, music, and theater will contribute stimulating models for this year's focus on the creative and performing arts. The COPLAC annual meeting presents a great combination of theme and location for this national group of selective public liberal arts institutions."
Sessions during the three-day meeting will examine community partnerships and careers in the arts and feature presentations on innovations and best practices in fine and performing arts from seven COPLAC-member institutions, including Evergreen State College, Washington; Midwestern State University, Texas; University of Minnesota Morris; New College of Florida; Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts; Southern Utah University; and Georgia College.
