Shepherd's Department of Music to present Music Composition Recital April 15

Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Music Department will present a concert featuring the work of student composers on Monday, April 15 at 3:15 p.m. in the McCoy Rehearsal Hall in the Frank Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

The recital will highlight a variety of works and works in progress by composers in the Shepherd Department of Music. The program includes "Trails" by William Kristopher Nigh, featuring Mike Pekala on piano and Nicholas Bavani and Nigh on synthesizers; "Subliminal" by Walker Williams, conducted by Ron Rowlett with Jordan Agey, Louise Campbell, Michael Kincaid, Colin Laxton, and Cody Rausch on percussion; "String Quartet no. 1 in F minor" by Brandon Kayda, featuring Ryan Stewart and Renee Shaw on violins, Adrielle Mills on viola, and Alli Litten on cello; "Home to Shenandoah" by Ian Karraker, performed by Allyson Bayer (soprano), Eduardo Rivera (baritone), Justin Loizos on alto saxophone, Tyler Arnold on trumpet, Ian Karraker on violin, Alana Gondeck on bassoon, and Nathan Arch on piano; "Toroidal Vortices" for the string quartet by Chris Hume, Ian Karraker and Ryan Stewart on violins, Adrielle Mills on viola, and Allie Litton on cello; "Nino entre las nubes" by Patrick Harper, with the composer at the piano and Nick Bavani on vibes; "Solstice" by Ryan Stewart, conducted by Kaz White, and performed by Hannah Geerlings on flute, Sarah Ciaccio on clarinet, Nicholas Bavani on piano, Thomas Collins on guitar, Ian Karraker on violin, Adrielle Mills on viola, Elizabeth Traversie on cello, and William Lopez on doublebass; and "Fantasia for Organ on Salve Regina" by Adam Taylor, featuring organist Gary Penkala.
