Shepherd faculty recital August 12 in Hagerstown ISSUED: 3 August 2012 Shepherdstown, WV--Dr. Yu-Hsuan Liao, a piano professor at Shepherd University, will perform at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Hagerstown, Maryland, on Sunday, August 12, at 2:30 p.m. A reception, hosted by the members of the museum's volunteer organization will follow the recital. Admission is $5 for museum non-members and free for members and children 12 and under. Selections will include Intermezzo in A-Flat major by Francis Poulenc (1899-1963), Iberia by Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909), Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), and Fantasia Baetica (1919) by Manuel de Falla (1876-1946). A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Yu-Hsuan Liao received her master's and doctoral degrees of musical arts in piano performance from the University of Texas at Austin. She began her musical studies in Tung-Hai University, Taichung, Taiwan, where she received her bachelor of fine arts degree. She is a piano soloist, collaborative artist, and music educator. She was previously on the faculty at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. -30- |
