Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Scarborough Society, sponsored by the Shepherd Foundation, will host a reception on Tuesday, September 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. in recognition of the faculty art show on display in the Scarborough Library Reading Room from September 1 to 21. The exhibit is part of the ongoing Scarborough Art and Lecture Series at Shepherd. The reception and exhibit are open to the public.

The Scarborough Library exhibit is running in conjunction with a separate display of faculty works at Shepherd's Frank Center Gallery. Several faculty members have submitted their work to be exhibited in the shows, which feature a wide range of media, including photography, printmaking, and mixed media.

"The Department of Contemporary Art and Theater looks forward to sharing our creative endeavors at the start of the academic year with our students, colleagues and the community," said Rhonda J. Smith, chair of the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater. "The annual faculty exhibit is an opportunity for us to see what we have been working on over the summer and to understand how that work is received. The cycle of the work is not complete until an audience responds to the work. This is our chance to communicate beyond the studio with a broader audience, and we always look forward to hearing student, faculty, staff, and community comments and reactions."
