Shepherd baseball team hosts Shepherdstown Elementary students ISSUED: 4 April 2012 Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University's baseball team along with President Suzanne Shipley hosted 60 second grade students from Shepherdstown Elementary School on Wednesday, March 28. Students from Nicole Austin, Steve Emswiler, and Liza Jonczak's classes attended as part of their recent reading of "Just like Josh Gibson," a story about Josh Gibson's successes that serve as a catalyst to a young African-American girl. The reading program was part of Shepherdstown Elementary's cultural, diversity, and tolerance lessons. The students were greeted by Coach Wayne Riser and then joined by President Shipley as they watched the Rams play Concord. -30- |
