Shepherd alumnus endows sixth scholarship ISSUED: 10 January 2011 Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Foundation has announced the creation of the Carl K. Rauch and Susan Besaw Rauch Endowed Scholarship for Business. Funded by Shepherd alumnus Carl K. Rauch, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the scholarship will be used to provide financial assistance to students majoring in business or accounting. Rauch funded his most recent gift, made through a bequest, to honor his former wife, a retired assistant professor of accounting at Shippensburg University. A former math professor at Shepherd until his retirement in 1990, Rauch has already endowed five scholarships across several disciplines, including mathematics and mathematics education, science and science education, fine arts, nursing, and education. Rauch has achieved a lifetime of accomplishments as a scholar, professor, and humanitarian. Of his philanthropic work with Shepherd University, he said, "I don't think anyone could do better than to leave their money to a school where students are not just a number and faculty members are dedicated to teaching."
