Shepherd's Masterworks Chorale to perform Beethoven November 5 and 6 ISSUED: 25 October 2011 Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University's Masterworks Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Erik Reid Jones, will present Ludwig van Beethoven's Mass in C major, with full orchestra and soloists, on Saturday, November 5 at 8 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town, and on Sunday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Frank Center as part of the Friends of Music Concert Series. Jones, director of choral and vocal activities at Shepherd, received his bachelor of music degree in vocal music education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, master of music degree in choral conducting at the University of Cincinnati, and doctoral degree in choral conducting at the University of Maryland at College Park. He has taught at the Shenandoah Conservatory, Harford Community College, and the University of Maryland. Jones is a published author and choral composer, with more than 20 works to his credit. The Masterworks Chorale, a vocal ensemble with more than 130 singers, comprised of Shepherd University vocal students and members from the community, presents two full-length productions per year of great masterpieces from the choral literature as well as appearances at the Annual Holiday Gala Concert. General admission for the Beethoven's Mass in C Major is $22 in advance and $27 at the door, and $22 for faculty, staff, and seniors, $15 for students 18 and under.
