Shepherd's Scarborough Lecture Series features former faculty member
ISSUED: 31 March 2010
Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Scarborough Society continues the Art and Lecture Series on April 15 with Dr. Linda Tate. Tate will present a reading from her book Power in the Blood: A Family Narrative in the Scarborough Library Reading Room at 7 p.m. A reception will follow.
Tate is a former faculty member of Shepherd and the University of Denver's writing program. She explores her Cherokee-Appalachian lineage through themes of poverty, discrimination, and family violence. The critically-acclaimed Power in the Blood has revolutionized historical documentation with its novel-like approach and details.
Both the reading and reception are free and open to the public. For more information about the event or the Scarborough Society, contact the Shepherd University Foundation, P.O. Box 5000, Shepherdstown, WV 25443, or 304-876-5397, firstname.lastname@example.org, or www.shepherd.edu/fndtweb/.
