Shepherd presents senior exhibits April 1-30

Shepherdstown, WV--During the month of April, the Shepherd
University Department of Contemporary Art and Theater will present the
graduating bachelor of fine art (BFA) majors in photography, computer
imagery, painting, printmaking, and sculpture in their senior exhibits.
Contemporary art openings and events will be occurring every weekend
featuring a variety of media, stylistic approaches, and conceptually driven
art works by students whose next step may be graduate school or professional
careers in the arts. Shepherd is the only school in the Eastern Panhandle to
offer the BFA degree.
The senior exhibits are scheduled as follows:
- April 1-7, 5-7 p.m., painting and drawing by Chelsea Hosey, Little Birch,
and Brittany Smith, Clinton, Virginia, the Shepherd Scarborough Library
Reading Room.
- April 2, 6-9 p.m., photography by Ben Schonberger, Leesburg, Virginia,
Photoworks, Leesburg, Virginia.
- April 9, 5-8 p.m., photography by Challee Blackwelder, Manassas, Virginia,
Mellow Moods, Shepherdstown.
- April 9, 6-9 p.m., and April 10, 2-7 p.m., photography by LaJuan Bennett,
Waldorf, Maryland, and Kyle Schmitz, Springfield, Virginia, the War Memorial
Building, Shepherdstown.
- April 9, 6-9 p.m., photography by Shanna Mueller, Winchester, Virginia;
Austin Phillips, Martinsburg; and Kate Farrell, Centreville, Virginia, 200
Princess Street, Shepherdstown.
- April 16, 6-11 p.m., and April 17, 1-5 p.m., sculpture by Daniel Stotler,
Berkeley Springs, the Historic Shepherdstown Museum, Shepherdstown.
- April 16, 6-8 p.m., photography by Lauren Brown, Williamsport, Maryland, and
Lindsay Ives, Ashburn, Virginia, the War Memorial Building.
- April 17, 6-9 p.m., photography by Lindsay Kumpf, Ashburn, Virginia, and
Holly White, Stephens City, Virginia, the War Memorial Building.
- April 30, 5-9 p.m., and May 1, noon-4 p.m., photography, printmaking, and
drawing by Erin Lutz, Alexandria, Virginia, and Lindsay Mitchell,
Charlottesville, Virginia, the Hodges Building, Shepherdstown.
- April 30, 7-10 p.m., photography by Carissa Guyot, Charles Town, the War
Memorial Building.
The department and students within the BFA programs at Shepherd have
been recognized with regional and national awards and the program has been
recognized as a Program of Distinction by the state of West Virginia.
