Shepherd attendees win honors at WVAHPERD Conference

(Shepherd attendees win honors at WVAHPERD Conference)

Shepherdstown, WV--A Shepherd University faculty member and a student were honored at the West Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (WVAHPERD) Conference held in Flatwoods.

Dr. Andro Barnett, associate professor and chair of the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sport, received the honor award from WVAHPERD president Joe Smith. Barnett was re-elected to the group's board of directors as the student advisor and as vice president for higher education.

Robert Group, Greencastle, Pennsylvania, was presented the Bee N. Orr Outstanding student award. He is a senior majoring in physical education.

David Canada, of Frederick, Maryland, was selected as the student representative to the board of directors of WVAHPERD. Canada, a junior majoring in physical education, will replace senior Kevin Reynolds, Hagerstown, Maryland, on the board.
