Shepherd University partners with Frontier Communications to provide wireless

Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University has partnered with Frontier Communications to provide wireless Internet access to several additional buildings on Shepherd's campus.

The new Frontier network will be available in McMurran Hall, Reynolds Hall, Knutti Hall, White Hall, Robert C. Byrd Science and Technology Center, Snyder Hall, and Frank Center Theater. The original Shepherd wireless network is available in the Student Center, Scarborough Library, Ikenberry Hall, Erma Ora Byrd Hall, Wellness Center, Butcher Center, Dining Hall, and Center for Contemporary Arts. Stutzman-Slonaker Hall will be added to one of the two networks later this fall and the residence halls are being considered for future expansion.

"Technology has become a vital part of the educational experience for our students," said Shepherd University President Suzanne Shipley. "Frontier continues to be a strong partner in our efforts to increase wireless Internet access across campus."

The Frontier network is expected to be available anywhere in Shepherdstown where the current Frontier citywide network is available, including small businesses, churches, residences, and open spaces this September. The network has a connection for up to 650 concurrent users.

"Frontier is pleased to support the academic mission of the university. We're confident the newly installed wireless network will prove to be a valuable resource for the campus community," said Paul Espinosa, Frontier's general manager.
