Shepherd Wellness Center ceremony slated for Thursday, June 11 ISSUED: 8 June 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Shepherd University's new Wellness Center on will be held Thursday, June 11 at 1:30 p.m. The $21.6 million Wellness Center has a 25-yard, eight-lane pool and scoreboard with video capabilities; two basketball courts (which are also lined for volleyball and badminton) and six basketball hoops; two racquetball courts; indoor elevated 1/10 mile jogging track with rubber mondo flooring; two multi-purpose rooms with mirrored wall for group exercise classes and a floating wood floor which reduces joint and muscle strain; 7,500+ square foot weight and fitness area with new free weights, resistance machines, and cardio equipment and nine flat screen televisions; men's, women's, and family locker rooms with private showers and swimsuit dryers; dining venue operated by Shepherd University's Dining Services offering fresh soups, salads, and sandwiches; casual seating area; and administrative offices. The architect for the project is the HughesGroup Architects, Sterling, Virginia. The general contractor is Palmer Construction Company, McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. -30-OWENS |
