Shepherdstown, WV--Several writers and photographers featured in the Anthology of Appalachian Writers, Adriana Trigiani Volume I, will be at Shepherd University during the Appalachian Heritage celebration on Tuesday, September 29 at 7 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies. A reception will follow the lecture "A Celebration of Appalachian Storytellers: a Kentucky Muse and the Anthology of Appalachian Writers." Photographic art debuted in the volume will be on exhibit in the Scarborough Library and in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies.

The collection of stories, poems, and photographic art is dedicated to storytelling, the understanding of the nature of writing, and the work of Appalachian writers and artists. Included in the volume are stories by Adriana Trigiani, Marc Harshman, Llewellyn McKernan, E.D. Pendarvis, Katherine Cobb, Jim Koenig, Claire Stuart, Ethan Fischer, as well as other writers from Appalachia.

Each anthology volume centers on the work of the Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence, with next year's volume devoted to the work of Silas House, who will be at Shepherd September 29 through October 3. The Anthology of Appalachian Writers is published by Shepherd University with funding from the West Virginia Center for the Book and Shepherd University Foundation.
