Dr. Colleen Nolan named dean of School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Shepherd ISSUED: 6 February 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--Dr. Colleen Nolan has been named dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Shepherd University. She will begin her duties July 1. Nolan will oversee Shepherd's Department of Biology; Department of Chemistry; Department of Computer Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering; and the Institute of Environmental Studies. Nolan has served as the chair of the Department of Biological Sciences at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, since 2004. A professor of biological sciences, she has been a faculty member at St. Mary's since 1991. At the University of Michigan, Nolan was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Environmental and Industrial Health (1990-91) and a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (1988-1990). Nolan earned a bachelor of science degree in animal science from Washington State University, a master of science degree in animal science from the University of Idaho, and a Ph.D. in physiology of reproduction and growth from Texas A & M University. She is a member of the American Physiological Society, Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, Texas Association of Advisors for Allied Health Professions, and National Science Teachers Association. Nolan has been a member of the San Antonio Area Foundation Biomedical Research Advisory Board since 2003 and is serving as chair of Foundation's Biomedical Research Advisory Board Team II. -30-OWENS |
