Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University is offering in-state tuition to Maryland residents for 10 specific degree programs through an agreement with the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

For Maryland residents who qualify, the 10 degree programs offered at Shepherd's in-state tuition rates are B.F.A. degree in art with a concentration in photography and computer imagery; B.S. degree in computer and information sciences with a concentration in networking and security; B.S. degree in computer and information technology with a concentration in Web programming and design; B.S. degree in environmental studies with a concentration in aquatic science; B.S. degree in environmental studies with a concentration in environmental engineering; B.S. degree in environmental studies with a concentration in environmental sustainability; B.S. degree in environmental studies with a concentration in historic preservation; B.A. degree in history with a concentration in Civil War and 19th-Century America; B.S. degree in recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in sport communication; and B.S. degree in recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in sport marketing.

The Southern Regional Education Board Academic Common Market Program allows states to enter into agreements providing in-state tuition to out-of-state students completing degree programs not available in their home state.

"These are some of our most distinctive degree programs--programs that attract students from across the nation," said Randall Friend, director of admissions at Shepherd University. "We are excited to expand our opportunities for Maryland residents through this agreement with the Maryland Higher Education Commission by offering these 10 programs to Maryland students at a reduced tuition rate."

For consideration for this program, students first apply for admission to Shepherd University in one of these degree programs. Once accepted, students will be sent additional information to submit to the Maryland Higher Education Commission for approval to the Academic Common Market. Upon approval, the student will be charged Shepherd University's in-state tuition rate as they make satisfactory progress toward graduation in that degree program.

Shepherd University is a West Virginia public liberal arts university offering more than 75 undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs. For more information about applying to Shepherd University, please visit unexpected.shepherd.edu.
