Shepherd's Common Reading Program presents free showing of "King Corn" ISSUED: 21 August 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University's Common Reading Program will be presenting a free public showing of the movie "King Corn" in the Erma Ora Byrd Auditorium on Wednesday, August 26 at 7 p.m. A discussion led by Dr. Ed Snyder, director of Shepherd University's Institute for Environmental Studies, will follow. Behind America's dollar hamburger and 72-ounce sodas is a key ingredient that quietly fuels our fast-food nation: corn. "King Corn" depicts recent college graduates Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis leaving the east coast for rural Iowa, where they decide to grow an acre of corn.
