Shepherd University radio station interviews Hobbs and Howells ISSUED: 3 November 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University radio station WSHC (89.7 FM) will be airing an interview with Alfred Hobbs, the subject of a documentary film by filmmaker Johnathan Howells, on Sunday, November 8 at noon. Hobbs, 83, and his son Niels will be traveling through Shepherdstown on their way from New Mexico to New York state as part of an independent documentary film based on Hobbs' 1955-59 honeymoon expedition around the world with then wife Jakobine. Filming will take place at the Opera House on Thursday, November 5 at 5 p.m. The story is filled with adventure, including an encounter with the young Dalai Lama, crossing the Sahara Desert, 249 flat tires, and being taken hostage at gunpoint. Hobbs and Niels are now driving across the country, visiting small town America along the way, to surprise 83-year-old Jakobine at her home in New York with an offer to take her on one last drive, before it's too late. Mayor Jim Auxer will welcome Hobbs and Neils, and The Speakeasy Boys will accompany with songs and sounds familiar to Shepherdstown life.
