(Shepherd President and Foundation to host Donor Scholar Reception October 4)

Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University president Dr. Suzanne Shipley and the Shepherd University Foundation will host a donor scholar reception Sunday, October 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Erma Ora Byrd Hall Auditorium.

The event is held every two years to honor and thank donors who sponsor the Shepherd University Foundation scholarship awards, as well as to recognize the outstanding scholarship recipients who have successfully competed for those awards in that time frame. Highlighting the reception will be an opportunity for donors and scholars to mingle and be photographed with Shipley. Shipley, Foundation president Ray Alvarez, senior scholarship recipient Shannon Trout, and recent graduate Patrick Noland are scheduled to speak.

"This event brings together scholarship sponsors with their scholarship recipients, as well as university and volunteer leaders, family and friends. It's a time to recognize and honor the enduring values of hard work and commitment shown by our scholars who compete for these private awards. It's a heartwarming chance to allow our donors to personally meet the extraordinary students they have invested in with their gifts of time and treasure," said Monica Lingenfelter, executive vice president of the Shepherd Foundation.

Over 500 endowed and annually funded scholarship awards are provided through the Shepherd Foundation. Establishing a named endowed or annually funded award is a simple way to create a long lasting and beneficial legacy and can be done so through the Foundation office.
