Shepherd to offer reduced tuition for Delaware residents in four academic common market programs ISSUED: 26 May 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University is offering in-state tuition to Delaware residents for four specific degree programs through an agreement with the Delaware Higher Education Commission. For Delaware residents who qualify, the four degree programs offered at Shepherd's in-state tuition rates are B.S. or B.A. degree in communication and new media with a concentration in digital filmmaking; B.A. degree in history with a concentration in public history; B.S. degree in recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in therapeutic recreation; and B.A. degree in secondary education with a teaching field in family and consumer sciences. The Southern Regional Education Board Academic Common Market Program allows states to enter into agreements providing in-state tuition to out-of-state students completing degree programs not available in their home state. "These are some of our most distinctive degree programs--programs that attract students from across the nation," said Randall Friend, director of admissions at Shepherd University. "We are excited to expand our opportunities for Delaware residents through this agreement with the Delaware Higher Education Commission by offering these four programs to Delaware students at a reduced tuition rate." For consideration for this program, students first apply for admission to Shepherd University in one of these degree programs. Once accepted, students will be sent additional information to submit to the Delaware Higher Education Commission for approval to the Academic Common Market. Upon approval, the student will be charged Shepherd University's in-state tuition rate as they make satisfactory progress toward graduation in that degree program. Shepherd University is a West Virginia public liberal arts university offering more than 75 undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs.
