Shepherd University and Hood College partner to host regional college tour ISSUED: 25 September 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University hosted guidance counselors from across the nation Tuesday, September 22, as part of a regional college tour partnership with Hood College. Five counselors representing Hawaii, Arizona, Florida, Washington, and Pennsylvania toured each historic campus, learning about the schools' vibrant campuses and unique academic opportunities. "As our campus grows and we expand our academic offerings, we are seeing more and more students applying from all 50 states," said Randall Friend, director of admissions. "We were very excited to partner with Hood College in hosting these counselors." The tour was offered in conjunction with the National Association of College Admission Counseling's Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. At Shepherd University, the counselors' tour of campus highlighted the state-of-the-art nursing education facility, the new $12.6 million Wellness Center, and other campus landmarks. The counselors had the opportunity to meet with the vice president for enrollment management, the chair of the Department of Nursing Education, and a current Shepherd student before enjoying lunch in Shepherdstown. -30-YOUNG |
