Shepherd director of human resources earns SPHR certification ISSUED: 13 July 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--Marie DeWalt, director of human resources at Shepherd University, earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). The SPHR certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute, signifies that DeWalt has passed a comprehensive examination demonstrating the body of knowledge in the field of human resource management. The pass rate for the SPHR certification exam during the spring 2009 testing window was 54 percent. There currently are 42,133 SHPR-certified individuals in the United States, of which 110 are in West Virginia. DeWalt holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership from West Virginia University, an M.S. in human resource management from the University of Charleston, an M.Ed. in student personnel services from the University of South Carolina, and a B.A. in political science from West Virginia University. DeWalt completed the management development program at Harvard University. The Human Resource Certification Institute is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. -30-YOUNG |
