Shepherd University Department of History sponsors World War I tour ISSUED: 11 August 2009 Shepherdstown, WV--The Department of History at Shepherd
University will sponsor a tour of World War I battlefields in France during
Thanksgiving break, November 20-29.
The tour, led by Dr. Mark A. Snell, will visit battle sites in eastern
France, including Verdun, Champagne, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne. Special
focus will be directed to battlefields where American troops fought.
Investigation will also be made of a Franco-Prussian battle site and part of
World War II's Maginot Line.
Cost for the tour is $2,730, which includes flights to and from Paris,
double-occupancy accommodations, museum fees, deluxe ground transportation,
expert tour guides, and most meals. Single rooms are also available for an
