Shepherd's Dining Services to host special dinner on March 5

Shepherdstown, WV--Shepherd University's Dining Services will host Cruisin the Mother Road, a tribute to cuisine found along Route 66 from Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier, on Wednesday, March 5 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

The dinner will feature recipes from famous diners and restaurants along Route 66 including the Launching Pad and Cozy Dog from Illinois, Hemingway's Blue Water Cafe in Missouri, the Cafe on the Route in Kansas, and the Big Texan Steakhouse in Texas.

Dining Services contacted many of the restaurants for recipe ingredients, memorabilia, and preparation directions. The menu will feature items such as Route 66 burgers, Italian beef, corn dogs, fried chicken, cowboy steak, frito pie, stuffed jalapeno poppers, Navajo tacos, Missouri fudge cake, and Ozark pudding.

Dining Services will submit this special theme event for a contest sponsored by the National Association of College and University Foodservices. Shepherd's Dining Services has won awards in the past for the Taste of West Virginia and Victorian Christmas dinners.

The dinner is open to the public. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children under 11. For more information, contact Dining Services at 304/876-5149.
