Frontier Corporation supports Shepherd University Foundation scholarship
ISSUED: 7 October 2008
Shepherdstown, WV--The Shepherd University Foundation announces the receipt of a $5,000 donation from Frontier Communications Corporation, the second largest rural local exchange company in the United States.
The community-based company offers telephone, wireless, television, internet services, and wireless broadband in 24 states, including West Virginia. The donation supports scholarships available to students studying communications.
The check was presented to President Suzanne Shipley on Monday, September 29 following a roundtable discussion with Michael J. Copps, commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, and Maggie Wilderotter, Frontier chairman, president, and CEO at Shepherd's Center for Contemporary Arts.
"Frontier is delighted to support Shepherd University with this contribution for student scholarships," said Paul Espinosa, Frontier general manager. "We are proud of our partnership with Shepherd and committed to providing it and the surrounding community with the best in communications services."
Frontier has been a generous, annual contributor to the Foundation, reports Monica Lingenfelter, executive vice president of the Foundation. In previous years, the company has provided support for the Scarborough Library, women's athletics, and business and technology scholarships.
