FROM THE PRESIDENT
August 19, 2008
To the campus community,
The summer has passed so quickly that it is difficult to believe that the fall semester has arrived. Let's extend a warm greeting to all Shepherd's new faculty and staff and welcome them to the Shepherd University family.
In the fall issue of the Shepherd University Magazine we feature a company started through the combined efforts of a Shepherd alumnus and current Shepherd student. This team has entered its business plan in an international competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. Eric Stephenson '07 and student Arthur Ebeling started Eastern Isles Teas and Tonics in 2006, and they couldn't be more complimentary about the education they received at Shepherd. Arthur says, "We have been glad for the help and interest we have received from the faculty at Shepherd. We try to serve as ambassadors for the University and are proud to be students there." Eric adds, "Everywhere I go, I am proud to say I am a Shepherd alumnus."
Arthur and Eric will make another presentation of their business plan in September in order to advance to the finals. Let's wish them the very best in their endeavor.
Arthur and Eric's success, as well as the success of all Shepherd students, starts with the firm foundation they receive from you. Everywhere I go, I hear praise from alumni like Eric for what Shepherd University offers its students and its stakeholders.
Thank you for your continuing efforts to make Shepherd the university of choice for current and future students!
