FROM THE PRESIDENT
May 8, 2008
Thanks for a great first year!
Commencement marks the official close of the academic year at colleges and universities nationwide. This year's commencement is a very special one for me, as it notes the end of my first academic year spent with you at Shepherd University.
My first year at Shepherd has been successful because of you--the faculty and staff. You have worked tirelessly to keep Shepherd on its path of steady improvement. I cannot thank you enough for your dedication and devotion to our students. You make me proud!
When Randy and I arrived on campus last summer, you warmly welcomed us into the Shepherd University family, and for that we are grateful. Your welcome and support eased the transition into our new home.
After our commencement on May 17, I hope faculty will take a much deserved break and enjoy a summer filled with academic pursuits at your own pace. If you are teaching during the summer, we're glad to have you back on campus.
And staff, enjoy the somewhat slower pace of Shepherd during the summer school sessions and enjoy your vacation time that you have worked so hard to earn.
May the coming summer months recharge our creativity, energy, and enthusiasm for the work ahead.
