Timeline of the Shipley Presidency

March 14, 2011

Shepherd University football made history during the 2010 season by reaching the NCAA Division II Final Four. We are very proud of the success of the team on the field.

Many of our athletes are just as successful off the playing field and exemplify Division II's philosophy of a life in the balance, which seeks to provide growth opportunities through academic achievement, high-level competition, and community service. Through the emphasis on life balance, NCAA Division II student-athletes learn a variety of skills and knowledge for life after graduation.

One such athlete, Rob Ciancaglini, is profiled in this issue. Rob is active in campus groups, helps with new student orientation, is in the honors program, and plans to go to medical school to study pediatrics when he graduates.

As a premier public liberal arts university, Shepherd produces well-rounded individuals whose Shepherd education leads to outstanding career preparation. Also profiled in this issue are a student athletic trainer who played dual roles at home football games by also performing at halftime with the Ram Band, a senior who started his own business, and four young alumni who are making inroads in filmmaking, acting, arts management, and nonprofit fundraising. They are all incredible examples of how a Shepherd University education prepares students for success.

This edition of the Shepherd University Magazine offers readers a glimpse of the exciting momentum building on our campus. Like our football players, coaches, and supporters, the Shepherd community is a winning team. Thanks for being a Ram fan!
