NCAA Compliance Assistant-internet Interface Compliance Assistant-internet (CAi) is a tool designed to help administrators ensure that the athletics department and student-athletes are in compliance with NCAA legislation. In part, it applies NCAA legislation in the areas of financial aid and eligibility. The Office of Financial Aid has been collaborating for several months with the Registrar, IT Services, and Athletics offices to implement an interface between Banner and CAi by which financial aid data for student-athletes will be exported from Banner and imported into CAi. This will create a much more timely identification of potential issues; reduce the possibility of human error; and eliminate the current practice of manually entering the same data into two software systems. NCAA-required forms can also be generated by athletics much sooner and coaches can review their players' status prior to competition. As this project moves toward completion, the collaborative effort will be transitioning to the development of a similar interface to transfer academic data for eligibility purposes from Banner to CAi. The goal quite simply is to be more timely, utilizing technology to ensure NCAA compliance campus-wide. |
