Hobson's EMT Communications Product
A major project the Office of Admissions will be completing this summer is the implementation of Hobson's EMT communications software. This communications software will help manage our direct mail communications more effectively by allowing us to segment, monitor, and automate our mailing communications without adding strain to the IT department.

In addition to direct mail management, Hobson's EMT will allow the Office of Admissions to develop an e-communication plan to accompany the direct mail. The e-communication module will automatically send e-mails to selected groups of prospective students as well as report back to us the effectiveness of the e-mail. These reports will include bad e-mail addresses, who deleted the e-mail, who opened the e-mail, any links embedded in the e-mail that were selected, and more. Knowing what people need will aid us in building stronger relationships with the prospective student.

Another function of this communications product is the online inquiry page that will input prospective students' information directly into Banner. This functionality will save hours of data entry time and allow us to communicate with students much faster and more accurately than in the past. We have also added a section on the inquiry page that will allow the Office of Admissions to gather data on academic, athletic, and extracurricular activities that are of interest to our prospective students but that Shepherd may not currently offer. This information will be very helpful to departments that wish to expand programs.

If you are interested in learning more about this product, please feel free to contact Randy Friend in the Office of Admissions.

Rapid Insight
The Rapid Insight tool is an automated modeling software program that builds statistical models to help figure out which students will enroll, which ones will have the academic skills to succeed, and finally, identify the students that are academically or financially "at-risk." The software will automatically search through all of the institutional data to find relationships. It will then provide a profile utilizing mean analysis, multivariate analysis, correlation analysis, variable statistics and creation, and what-if analysis.
