What is SEM?

Strategic Enrollment Management is a comprehensive process designed to help an institution achieve and maintain the optimum recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of students, where "optimum" is defined within the academic context of the institution. As such, SEM is an institution-wide process that embraces virtually every aspect of an institution's function and culture.

Institutions cannot increase productivity, service, quality, and competitiveness without a comprehensive strategy to manage their enrollments. For the strategy to be effective the principles must be understood and incorporated into activities throughout the institution.

The Enrollment Management Committee functions within the institution's governmental structure to provide oversight, evaluation, planning, and advice on strategies, goals, and objectives for the SEM program. It convenes monthly to recommend and review policy, develop alternatives, facilitate cooperation and coordination, and advance the SEM program. It serves as the communication hub with the Faculty Senate, other governmental bodies, and campus at large.
