Applications for Summer Financial Aid

Students interested in applying for financial aid for any of the three summer semesters must complete a separate application in addition to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application is available on our website at www.shepherd.edu/faoweb or in the Office of Financial Aid. The student needs to schedule their classes before the application can be processed. To be eligible for loans, students must be a least half time which is 2 hours in Summer I, 3 hours in Summer II and 4 hours in Summer III.

Summer I (May 23 - June 25) - The first summer session will be part of the 2006-2007 award year; therefore, students must have completed a FAFSA for 06-07. Generally, their eligibility will be limited to loans provided they have not already borrowed the maximum allowable for their grade level this year.

Summer II (July 2 - Aug 2) - The second summer session will be part of the 2007-2008 award year; therefore, they must have completed a FAFSA for 07-08. Any Pell and/or loan amounts used will reduce their eligibility for Fall 2007 and/or Spring 2008. Limited amounts of Federal Work Study may be available after July 1st.

Summer III (May 23 - Aug 2) - The third summer session will be part of the 2006-2007 award year; therefore, they must have completed a FAFSA for 06-07. Generally, their eligibility will be limited to loans provided they have not already borrowed the maximum allowable for their grade level this year.
