Transfer Students

One factor in determining transfer students' overall eligibility, as well as their amounts, for some federal student aid programs is their grade level. These programs include the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG), National SMART Grant, and Stafford loans.

Grade level is based on the number of credit hours accepted by Shepherd University. Often, not all of their final transcripts have been received or evaluated by the institution. Consequently, the Office of Financial Aid may offer them a package based on a lower grade level than they anticipated.

If additional transcripts are received and evaluated, their grade level may increase. Questions regarding the status of transcripts should be directed to the Office of Admissions at 876-5212 or 800-344-5231. If grade level increases, they should not hesitate to notify the Office of Financial Aid to have their package reevaluated.
