Staff Updates

The Office of Admissions has had to said good-bye to several staff members; Randy Friend, Kelly Pannill, Jacob Holt and Rebecca Moore. While they will all be missed, we wish them will in their new endeavors. With these departures have come changes in our staff.

Kristan Price has been promoted to Associate Director of Admissions. Kristan will continue to recruit high school and transfer students from Frederick, Washington and Montgomery counties in Maryland and Washington, DC; while taking on additional responsibilities associated with her new position.

Katie Whitmire will be servicing the local Jefferson, Berkeley and Morgan county high schools as well as Northern Virginia Community College and Lord Fairfax Community College.

We have welcomed the following new Admissions Counselors to the Office of Admissions.

Marcia Powers is originally from Wisconsin but comes to us from Maine where she just completed AmeriCorps service helping at-risk juniors and seniors prepare for college. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in International Studies from the University of Minnesota--Duluth. Marcia will be recruiting future Shepherd graduates in West Virginia.

Ryan Ludwig is from Northumberland, Pennsylvania. Ryan recently received his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Alvernia University. While at Alvernia, he participated in basketball and Tennis. He also worked in their Office of Admissions as a student ambassador. Ryan will be recruiting future Shepherd graduates in the states of Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Kristen DeSantis is originally from Wheeling, WV. She transferred to Shepherd from Fairmont State and graduated from Shepherd University in 2010 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration concentrating in Marketing. Upon graduation she worked as a Marketing Director and Customer Service Representative in Silverthorne, CO. Kristen will be recruiting future Shepherd graduates in the state of Virginia.

In addition we welcome, Ashley Thorel as our new Program Assistant. Ashley is originally from Texas but currently resides in Bunker Hill, WV. Ashley comes to us as from the TRIO program. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in English at Shepherd.
