A New Role for the Office of the Registrar: Veterans Certification

Effective October 2011, the work of certifying the enrollment of students receiving veterans benefits to the Veterans Administration has moved to the Office of the Registrar. Lorraine Kitchner, associate registrar for records, is the primary certifying official for Shepherd University; Tracy Seffers, registrar, is also a certifying official.

Our office appreciates the continuing assistance of Mary Beth Walling, in Student Affairs, in providing training and ensuring a smooth transition for our student veterans. Our offices will continue working together through a full academic cycle of certifications.

The vets website will be undergoing some updates in the spring 2012 semester; one change already in place is a revised interactive Certification Enrollment Request, which a student using veterans benefits must file with us after pre-registration each semester. The form can be submitted electronically to our office from the student's Shepherd e-mail account.
