Apply NOW for Financial Aid for the 12-13 year

Students need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine their eligibility for need-based aid. If a student received financial aid in the current year, he/she can complete the FAFSA by choosing FAFSA RENEWAL instead of START NEW FAFSA, which is even faster. It is recommended that the application be completed online at www.fafsa.gov. The online process has edits and "skip logic" in place to ensure an increased rate of accuracy.

Everyone is encouraged to complete the application because there is no charge for applying. Also, if the student wants to be considered for all scholarships, including those that are need-based, a FAFSA must be submitted.

Students should be encouraged to include Shepherd University's federal school code, 003822, to ensure their results are sent to us.

Don't wait for tax returns! Instead, an estimate can be provided now with corrections made later when the tax returns are officially submitted.

Or, submit your taxes early, and then two weeks later, you can use the IRS Retrieval process within the FAFSA to ensure a greater rate of successful completion in the income section. If you choose to file prior to submitting your tax return, you can also use the IRS Retrieval process later to update your information.
