Reminders from the Calendar

As we enter the downhill stretch (already?!), just a reminder about the new calendar structure for fall.

The final days of classes are Monday and Tuesday, December 7 and 8. These two days accommodate the earlier fall break in October and extend instructional time beyond the single week after Thanksgiving (addressing the shortness of the post-Thanksgiving instructional period, another concern raised by faculty when discussing calendar issues).

Study/grading periods are built into the final exam period:

Wednesday, December 9--Study Day
Thursday and Friday, December 10-11--Final Exams
Saturday and Sunday, December 12-13--Weekend Study Period/Grading Period for Faculty
Monday-Wednesday, December 14-16--Final Exams

Final grades for Fall 2009, and for incomplete grades given spring/summer 2009, will be due by 9 a.m. on Friday, December 18 (online grading through RAIL remains open through noon).

The 2010-11 academic calendars have been approved by the calendar committee and endorsed by the Faculty Senate.
