Exit Counseling Required for Borrowers

If students have borrowed through any loan program at any institution, they are required as part of their loan agreement to complete exit counseling when they cease to be at least a half time student.

December graduates need to complete this requirement as soon as possible. Exit counseling ensures that they are informed of their rights and responsibilities as a borrower. It is recommended they complete exit counseling at www.dlservicer.ed.gov. This online tutorial provides a comprehensive report of their borrowing history, as well as, exercises on determining their monthly repayment amounts on various repayment plan options.

Students who withdraw from school are also required to complete exit counseling as they will be entering into their six-month grace period and need to be aware of their rights and responsibilities, as well.
