Director of Athletics Search
Shepherd University, a public liberal arts institution, seeks a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Director of Athletics.

The Director of Athletics will lead, supervise and direct the activities of coaches and staff members in the intercollegiate athletic program. This program supports the educational objectives of the university and meets all the standards of the West Virginia intercollegiate Athletic Conference, National Collegiate Athletic Association, Board of Governors of Shepherd University, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and state and federal laws.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a master's degree from an accredited institution and three to five years experience in college athletics administration preferably in a program with mature fundraising capacity. A high level of personal energy and initiative, a commitment to athletics within a liberal arts institution, skills in communication, and financial and organizational management expertise are essential.

Shepherd University seeks an individual with:

• a desire to work collaboratively with the President and Vice President for Academic Affairs on strategic goals and initiatives, - the ability to strengthen and align Shepherd's athletic program for optimal competitiveness,
  
• significant experience in athletic programs as a coach or athlete,
  
• experience in attracting private funds to support athletic programs,
  
• evidence of successful alumni and community relations.
