Health Information & Education Collaborative IT Projects & Activities The following are brief descriptions of some of the many collaborative projects, activities, and organizations focused on sharing health information, educational materials, and other knowledge and lessons learned about medicine and healthcare. 2-1-1
Project - The 2-1-1 nationwide
project is being spearheaded by United Ways and comprehensive and specialized
information and referral agencies in states and local communities. The system provides a critical
connection between individuals and families who are seeking healthcare
services, or other
community-based organizations or government agencies. See www.211.org
Health Education Assets Library (HEAL) - The Health Education Assets Library
(HEAL) is a digital library that provides freely accessible digital teaching resources
of the highest quality that meet the needs of today's health sciences
educators and learners. Using state-of-the-art Internet technologies, HEAL
enables educators across the country to efficiently search and retrieve

National Guideline Clearinghouse™ (NGC) is a public resource for
evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. Visit http://www.guideline.gov/ National Library of Medicine (NLM) MedlinePlus - MedlinePlus
brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes
of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related
organizations. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an
illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, medical

WHO Health Information Network Project - The
Health InterNetwork, also known
as HINARI, was created to bridge the "digital divide" around
the world in health, ensuring that relevant information - and the
technologies to deliver it - are widely available and effectively used by
health personnel: professionals, researchers and scientists, and policy
